LOS ANGELES, June 19 (UPI) -- Hollywood singer-actress Mandy Moore said she hopes to leave her teen pop days behind her on her new album, "Wild Hope."

Moore came to fame when she was 15 with the 1999 hit "Candy." But her 2003 album "Coverage" featured covers of more sophisticated rock songs, while she took a strong role in songwriting for "Wild Hope," collaborating with Chantal Kreviazuk, Rachael Yamagata, the Weepies and others.

"I feel like so much time has passed, in my mind I approached this record as like a clean slate," Moore said.

"Because I haven't had too, too much musical success before, it allowed me the creative freedom to like sort of do whatever I wanted to do without people questioning it."
