LIVERPOOL, England, June 18 (UPI) -- Some 171 letters between popular Romantic period poet George Byron and his publisher, John Murray, will be published in Liverpool, England.

"The Letters of John Murray and Lord Byron" are scheduled to be published Wednesday by Liverpool University Press, the Times of London reported.

The letters reveal Murray had asked Byron to lengthen his classic poem "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage" and remove some of its "religious feeling" to make it sell better.

The letters date from 1811 to 1822 and reportedly offer insight into the relationship between Byron and John Murray, who was also the foremost publisher of the Romantic period.

Byron's letters to Murray have previously been published, but Wednesday's printing will mark the first time Murray's responses have appeared in a publication.

The letters have been edited by Byron Scholar Andrew Nicholson, who described the correspondence as "unique in the annals of publishing."
