Will Smith nervous about daughter dating
NEW YORK, June 18 (UPI) -- Horror writer Stephen King, in New York for an interview, described the soon-to-open movie based on his short story "1408" as "terrifying."
King, 59, who has been at the top of the best-seller lists for decades and become an American literary icon, admitted that except for "1408" -- which hits theaters Friday -- and a few others, the movies made from his stories do not usually meet his standards, the New York Post reported Monday.
It probably helped that the film's star, John Cusack, is a big fan of King's work.
"He writes great characters, and there's so much detail in his work," said Cusack, who stars as Enslin in "1408." Enslin is a writer who spends the night in a New York hotel room with a history of suicides and finds ghosts living in the room.
"The room is using this guy's past against him," Cusack said.
