MANCHESTER, Tenn., June 18 (UPI) -- Jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman is in the hospital after collapsing from the heat at the Manchester, Tenn., Bonnaroo festival.

The 77-year-old "free jazz" pioneer and 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Music winner was taken to the Coffer County Hospital after suffering heat stroke during a performance on Sunday, Billboard.com reported.

He was first treated at a nearby medical tent, where he was given intravenous fluids, said a spokesperson for Bonnaroo.

Coleman is next supposed to travel to Kongsberg, Norway, for a July 6 concert.
