LONDON, June 17 (UPI) -- Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisolm says rumors of a reunion by the all-girl British pop group hold some truth.

"For the first time ever, there is some truth in the rumors .... It could happen," she told BBC's radio London 94.9.

But, said Sporty Spice, it would just be for "a very short space of time ... a final goodbye" and a thank-you to fans.

It is thought the other Spice Girls -- Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Mel B and Geri Halliwell -- already had agreed to reunite and were waiting for Melanie C to concede.

Chisolm added she hadn't wanted the band to reunite because the first time they were together "it was amazing, it was magical. We could never recreate it."

The Spice Girls are rumored to reunite for six shows around the world, including dates in London, Tokyo and Las Vegas, to support the release of a greatest hits album.
