LOS ANGELES, June 14 (UPI) -- Actor Kenneth Johnson has signed on to star opposite Holly Hunter in "Saving Grace," the U.S. cable network TNT announced.

Johnson, who won an Emmy Award as Detective Curtis Lemansky on "The Shield," will play another police role as Detective Ham Dewey on the show, said TNT in a news release.

The show, a crime drama in which an angel helps Hunter's character evaluate her life, will see Johnson added as her partner, both on the job and in the bedroom.

Johnson has appeared in numerous films -- including "Blade," "Major League 3: Back in the Minors" and "The Forbidden Dance."

He has also appeared in TV shows including "Cold Case," "Pensacola: Wings of Gold," "CSI," "Smallville" and "Just Shoot Me."
