Bob Dylan receives Spanish arts award

MADRID, June 14 (UPI) -- U.S. music icon Bob Dylan was awarded Spain's highly coveted Prince of Asturias award, El Pais newspaper reported Thursday.

Dylan is "considered one of the most important figures of song, a form in which he combines, in a majestic way, the beauty of his poetry and ethical commitment," said award officials in a statement.

The 66-year-old Dylan is considered one of the most influential American musical artists for his work including songs like "The Times They Are a-Changin'" and "Like a Rolling Stone."
