Princess Diana still heavy in sons' minds

LONDON, June 13 (UPI) -- British Princes William and Harry recently admitted that they still think about their mother, Britain's Princess Diana, and her mysterious death.

The Mirror reported Wednesday that the princes recently spoke publicly for the first time about their mother's death in 1997 and both said the tragedy even haunts them today.

"You know when people think about it they think about her death," Prince Harry said. "They think about how wrong it was. They think about whatever happened."

"For me personally," he added, "whatever happened that night, whatever happened in that tunnel ... no one will ever know."

Prince William, 24, echoed his 22-year-old brother's sentiment, saying he too cannot escape the mystery.

"After it happened we were always thinking about it," William said. "And there's not a day goes by I don't think ... that I don't think about it once in the day."

The Mirror said the princes were speaking about their mother's tragedy in recognition of an honorary July 1 concert in London oriented toward Diana's death in an Aug. 31, 1997, car crash in France.
