LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) -- Paris Hilton said Saturday she will serve her jail term and doesn't want her attorneys to appeal a Los Angeles judge's decision sending her back to her cell.

The 26-year-old hotel fortune heiress said in a news release she greatly appreciated the sheriff's concern for her health and welfare but will serve her time.

"Being in jail is by far the hardest thing I have ever done," she said. "During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to think and I believe that I am learning and growing from this experience."

She expressed shock at the amount of attention her case has received.

"I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things like the men and women serving our country in Iraq and other places around the world," she said.

Hilton was ordered to serve 23 days of a 45-day term for violating probation from a DUI conviction. After three days, she was reassigned to house arrest by the sheriff because of unspecified health issues.

That upset the presiding judge, who sent her back to the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, Calif.
