Hollywood Dems returning to Clinton fold

LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) -- Hollywood Democrats are reportedly returning to Hillary Clinton after a flirtation with her fellow U.S. senator and presidential campaign rival, Barack Obama.

Clinton recently raised more than $1 million in one day in Los Angeles, The Los Angeles Times reported. Most of that money -- $850,000 -- came from a fundraiser at the home of Peter Chernin, president of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., with Steven Spielberg as co-host.

"There was a good turnout of Hollywood folks at Chernin's -- J.J. Abrams, Jodie Foster, Tobey Maguire, Brian Grazer -- and they all seemed pleased and receptive," said political consultant Donna Bojarsky. "(Clinton) did a real tour-de-force analysis of the world."

Spielberg was once considered an Obama enthusiast. His political spokesman told the Times he had no announcement to make.

Now that the burst of early enthusiasm for Obama has worn down, Democrats in Hollywood and elsewhere appear to be wondering if he needs more experience to be a credible presidential candidate, the newspaper said.
