Techno artist taps novel for album title

ANN ARBOR, Maine, June 5 (UPI) -- Michigan electronic music artist Matthew Dear turned to the late Kurt Vonnegut for the title of his new album.

Dear's "Asa Breed" is named after a minor character in the Vonnegut novel "Cat's Cradle."

"There's no actual concept between the album and the novel," Dear, who also records under the name Audion, said. "I just liked the word combination. It's very guttural. It's kind of ethnic and very organic at the same time, but it's not specific enough to tell you exactly what (the album) sounds like."

Dear, who's based in Ann Arbor, Mich., will tour Europe with his band, Matthew Dear's Big Hands, starting June 16 in Barcelona, Spain.
