Country duo unleashes third album, book

NASHVILLE, June 5 (UPI) -- The Nashville duo Big & Rich shows its rowdy and quiet sides on its third album.

The new "Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace" is frontloaded with gentler, more introspective songs before changing pace halfway through to end things on a rocking note. It's a new twist that John Rich said he and partner Big Kenny Alphin wanted to pursue.

"It is a little different," Rich said. "It kind of puts you in a mind set at the top and keeps you there for half the album, then goes into the next gear which is that throwdown, hardcore crank-it-up kind of thing.

"We just thought this was an interesting way to do it. It's the evolution of Big & Rich, man; we continue to grow and evolve."

The duo has also released a new book, "Big & Rich: All Access," chronicling its career.
