Yoda voted to be single-stamp image

WASHINGTON, May 28 (UPI) -- The Jedi master overtook the student in the nationwide vote for the U.S. Postal Service's single-stamp issue commemorating "Star Wars."

Darker forces lead the voting early on, but USPS officials in Washington said Yoda was selected as the favorite character for the single stamp to be issued later this summer, the service announced in a news release.

The 15-image commemorative sheets -- with images such as Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo's Millennium Falcon and Dark Vader -- went on sale last week at post offices across the nation and were dedicated at the Star Wars Celebration IV in Los Angeles.

The event coincided with the 30th anniversary of "Star Wars," directed by George Lucas and produced by Lucasfilm Ltd.
