NBC's Reilly may be out

BURBANK, Calif., May 28 (UPI) -- A shake-up at NBC Entertainment could be in the offing as Kevin Reilly reportedly is expected to step down as president of the California-based unit.

NBC Universal Chief Executive Officer Jeff Zucker and other executives were negotiating with Reilly during the weekend to end his three-year contract that was renewed in March, people close to the negotiations told the Los Angeles Times. The sources said a resolution was expected this week.

The shake-up comes after months of building tensions between Reilly and his bosses in New York, the Times reported Monday. NBC finished the TV season last week in fourth place in the prime-time ratings.

Reilly, 44, was successful in finding shows that struck a chord with the audience, including "Heroes," "My Name is Earl" and "The Office." But he also was responsible for expensive flops such as "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Kidnapped," both of which were canceled.
