
MIAMI, May 26 (UPI) -- A handyman was being held in Miami for allegedly shooting popular Latino music songwriter Fabio Alonso Salgado, known as Estefano.
Francisco S. Oliveira, allegedly was bringing Estefano marijuana when he pulled a gun from his backpack and started shooting his employer of more than five years, The Miami Herald reported Saturday. Police said his injuries were life threatening, but Estefano was stable at Ryder Trauma Center Saturday with wounds to the chest and head, NBC6 reported on its Web site.
Oliveira, 29, faces attempted second-degree murder charges and was held at the Miami-Dade County Jail without bond.
Estefano has written and produced songs for numerous artists, including Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Shakira, Thalia, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Jon Secada, Paulina Rubio and Julio Iglesias.
