NEW YORK, May 26 (UPI) -- Talent agent Marquitta Blair is suing rapper Shawn Mims for $7.5 million, saying he violated her civil rights by failing to perform at a New York club.
The talent agent claims in her lawsuit filed in Rockland County, N.Y., that Mims didn't show up at a Chelsea club just because she's a woman and quotes his misogynistic lyrics to bolster her case, the New York Post reported Saturday. The suit alleges the rapper was a no-show "because of his discriminatory attitude" toward women.
He was supposed to perform a 10-minute set April 5 at Eugene for $10,000. Blair even sent him a $2,500 down payment through his agent.
Blair's suit said Mims "has promoted and traded upon a pattern of conduct involving the belittlement and degradation of females as 'bitches' and 'ho's.'"
