Child director settles lawsuit over film

MALIBU, Calif., May 24 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old filmmaker has settled his first Hollywood lawsuit, in which he received full ownership and control of his film "Saving Angelo."

Dominic Scott Kay sued his Malibu neighbor who helped bankroll his 15-minute film in January over who controlled the film and the creative process, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

"I'm so excited," Kay told the Times Wednesday. "I'm so, like, dedicated to this film."

At the time the lawsuit was filed, the neighbor, Conroy Kanter, said she believed Kay's mother was behind the lawsuit and was seeking to gain financially from the suit.

Kay is a child actor whose credits include Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" and the voice of Wilbur, the pig in the recent "Charlotte's Web."

In "Saving Angelo" he turned a real-life experience into the film starring Kevin Bacon. In Kay's film, a boy and his family rescue an injured dog and find a home for it at a fire station. He said he should finishing editing it by July.

Kay said he hopes to submit "Saving Angelo" to film festivals.
