CANNES, France, May 21 (UPI) -- Oscar-winning director Roman Polanski criticized the media attending the 60th Cannes Film Festival in France, chiding reporters for "such poor questions."
Polanski, whose film "The Pianist" won Cannes' Palme d'Or and several Oscars, scolded journalists during a scheduled time for interviews for asking
"such poor questions, such empty questions, and I think that it's really the computer which has brought you down to this level," The Los Angles Times reported Monday. "You're no longer interested in what's going on in the cinema."
At a later media event, several directors were no-shows, the Times reported. In the interviewing event, round tables organized with three directors and a handful of journalists meant to have 20-minute discussions before the journalists switched to a new table. Wong Kar-Wai and the Coen brothers were not spotted. Polanski, who was to sit with Atom Egoyan and David Cronenberg, failed to attend as well.
