LOS ANGELES, May 19 (UPI) -- The new Web hit "Prom Queen," funded by Michael Eisner's Los Angeles company, has already had 3.7 million views on Myspace.com.

The flashy teen-aimed soap opera would fit in nicely on MTV or the CW, but with 80 episodes at just 90 seconds each, its true home is on the Internet, The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday.

What separates the teen drama from other Web based shows is funding. The program reportedly is backed by Eisner's Internet production company, Vuguru.

Eisner took the risk of funding the show even though Disney lost millions through its online Go Network in 2001.

The 65-year-old executive added that for the first year his rewards would "be more in education than economic." The money will hopefully come later, Eisner said.

He also took the time to wave the distinction between Old Hollywood and New Hollywood media.

"Old Hollywood at one point meant motion pictures, and then Old Hollywood had Jack Warner and Leonard Goldstein to make the first deal for Old Hollywood to make broadcast television. Old Hollywood and New Hollywood became one," he said.
