LOS ANGELES, May 16 (UPI) -- U.S. Actor Ed Begley Jr. has launched an online forum-based community Web site that focuses on all things green: fixingtheplanet.com.

The Web site should be the one resource for environmental issues, Begley said in a news statement.

"With fixingtheplanet.com, my hope is that people have one place to go where they can find answers to their questions," Begley said. "I have been doing this stuff since 1970 -- driving an electric car, composting, recycling -- and I've always tried to set a good example for others who are interested in sustainable living."

Fixingtheplanet.com is a subsidiary of EcoEarth, a Los Angeles company founded on the principal of providing a place for individuals worldwide to come together to learn and participate in environmental issues.

Co-founder Tim Matteson said he thinks a community site such as fixingtheplanet.com is overdue.

"Since the launch we've been overwhelmed by the response and number of new registered users who finally feel they can have a voice and actually participate within the movement as they learn and share," he said.

The two estimate that fixingtheplanet.com will have more than 500,000 registered users by the end of 2007 and more than 2 million in 2008.
