LAS VEGAS, May 15 (UPI) -- Carrie Underwood, fresh from winning top album honors, was named Top Female Vocalist Tuesday at the 42nd annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

A crying Underwood, calling the past 12 months "an incredible year," thanked family, friends and her record label "and my fans -- thank you and God bless you."

Underwood also recognized "American Idol," saying, "I wouldn't be here if it weren't for 'American Idol'." She won "American Idol" in the show's fourth season.
