Will Smith nervous about daughter dating
WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) -- CBS anchor Katie Couric will take part in this year's Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure on the National Mall in Washington.
The "CBS Evening News" anchor will work with Washington television station WUSA during the coverage of the race to raise awareness and money for breast cancer, Couric also will serve as an emcee and kick off the Cure's 5K Race event, the CBS-affiliate station said in a news statement.
"Katie Couric is a wonderful inspiration to cancer survivors and we are very honored to have her participate in this year's Race," said breast cancer survivor Hala Moddelmog, president and CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. "Breast cancer is a disease we can beat -- and we are glad that Katie Couric is helping to lead the charge on Race day."
The evening before the June 2 race, Couric will anchor the "CBS Evening News" live from Washington and feature stories specific to Washington-area issues.
