LONDON, May 11 (UPI) -- British rockers Pink Floyd gathered to honor their late bandmate Syd Barrett, but the concert in London stopped short of a true reunion.
Roger Waters and David Gilmour, who had a falling out nearly a quarter-century ago, appeared separately at the tribute concert at London's Barbican Center, the BBC reported Friday. Gilmour was joined by original Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and keyboardist Rick Wright while Waters played solo.
Also performing Barrett songs were Damon Albarn, Chrissie Hynde and Robyn Hitchcock, as well as members of Led Zeppelin, Oasis and others.
The guitarist, who died last year at the age of 60 of complications from diabetes, was the band's first creative force, writing their early hits.
Gilmour, Mason and Wright performed "Arnold Layne," the group's first hit and one of Barrett's best-known works. For the finale, "Bike" from Pink Floyd's debut album, all performers, sans Waters, performed together.
Waters, a former school chum of Barrett with whom he formed the band in 1965, played his own song, "Flickering Flame."
