SEATTLE, May 9 (UPI) -- Franklin High School students dress in such a style that "Glamorous" singer Fergie treated the Seattle school to a private concert.
The school was rewarded for its "Fergalicious" fashion sense -- track jackets, Bermuda shorts and oversized sunglasses -- in a contest sponsored by Verizon Wireless, The Seattle times said. After viewing submitted cell phone snapshots, Fergie -- also known as Stacy Ferguson -- chose Franklin the winner from eight schools.
The singer wore black track pants with red plaid suspenders, a black vest and white sneakers trimmed in yellow. A black knit cap completed the ensemble.
"It's crazy, just hearing the bell between classes, it brings me back," Fergie said. "They made an announcement this morning; they called it 'Fergalicious Tuesday.' So I felt really welcome."
For the uninitiated, "Fergalicious" is an adjective likely rooted in "Bootylicious" popularized by Beyonce. Fergie said her current "Fergalicious" style favors high-waisted jeans, suspenders worn up or down and slouchy hats.
Fergie's 50-minute concert in the Franklin High School gym included songs from her solo album, "The Dutchess," as well as an uncensored medley of hits from the Black Eyed Peas, including "Where Is the Love," "My Humps" and "Don't Phunk with My Heart."
