NASHVILLE, May 7 (UPI) -- Country singer Blake Shelton says making his new album "Pure BS" in Nashville ended up being "therapy."

Shelton told the Nashville Tennessean his divorce helped him make a better album. "Bad personal situations make for great country music," he said.

"Pure BS" is Shelton's fourth album with the Warner Bros. label.

After his marriage to Kaynette Williams ended in February 2006, Shelton moved back to his native Oklahoma. He told the paper he didn't want to live in his Nashville house anymore after the divorce.

Shelton's latest single, "Don't Make Me," continues to rise on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, ranked at No. 15 this week.
