LOS ANGELES, May 4 (UPI) -- Liv Tyler has signed to play Betty Ross, the love interest of scientist Dr. Bruce Banner in the film version of "The Incredible Hulk," it was announced Friday.
Tyler is to play opposite Edward Norton, who plays Banner, also known as The Hulk, a misunderstood super hero, said a release from Marvel Studios. The film is to be released in the summer of 2008.

Tyler first starred in Bernardo Bertolucci's "Stealing Beauty" and since has starred in "That Thing You Do," "Armageddon and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
Filming of "The Incredible Hulk" is to begin in Toronto this summer with Norton, a two-time Academy Award nominee, who already had been cast in the title role of The Hulk.
