Busta Rhymes busted again in NYC

NEW YORK, May 3 (UPI) -- Rapper Busta Rhymes faces a drunken driving charge following a traffic stop because his vehicle's windows were too dark, New York police said.

Officers allegedly smelled alcohol on Rhymes' breath, and arrested and booked him early Thursday, AllHipHop.com reported.

The rap star's attorney did not comment on the matter.

Rhymes 34, was arrested in February in Manhattan for driving with a suspended license. That incident prompted a judge to withdraw a plea offer that would have allowed Rhymes to avoid jail time for two assault charges.

Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, is scheduled to go to trial Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his former driver in a dispute over back pay.

In another incident, the rapper is accused of assaulting a fan who allegedly spit on his vehicle after an August 2006 performance.

Rhymes could be sentenced to more than a year in jail on each assault charge.

Police said they also want to question Rhymes about the unsolved killing of his bodyguard and friend, Israel Ramirez, who was shot to death during a video shoot for the rapper's hit, "Touch It (Remix)."
