And then there were four 'Idol' hopefuls

HOLLYWOOD, May 3 (UPI) -- The magic number on "American Idol" is four after two contestants were eliminated from the competition in Hollywood.

Voted off Wednesday in the John Bon Jovi-mentored week were Phil Stacey, whose interpretation of "Blaze of Glory" was called "OK" by judge Simon Cowell, and Chris Richardson, whose rendition of "Wanted Dead or Alive" left Cowell wondering whether he had the chops to continue, E! News reported Wednesday.

The double elimination comes after all six "Idol" contestants were allowed to move on in last week's "Idol Gives Back" charity fundraising event in which more than $60 million was raised. Votes from last week's competition were added to this week's tally.

The departures of Stacey and Richardson left Blake Lewis as the talent contest's sole male contestant.

Next week's guest mentor is former BeeGee Barry Gibb, who said on his Web site the experience "(sounds) like a great adventure and I am really looking forward to it."
