LOS ANGELES, May 1 (UPI) -- Pop music star Justin Timberlake says he's content to share the mike or be the muse for other singers in a variety of genre for the time being.

"I've had a good share of the spotlight for a while. I don't feel like I need too much of it right now," Timberlake said in an interview in Los Angeles with USA Today.

The ex-Mouseketeer and boy-band singer turned to composing for others and acting, which includes a turn as young King Arthur in the animated "Shrek The Third."

Timberlake co-wrote two songs for Macy Gray's "Big." On Rihanna's "Good Girl Gone Bad," is his "Rehab." Returning to his Tennessee roots, Timberlake collaborated on "The Only Promise That Remains," for Reba McEntire's duets collection in the fall.

To experiment in different music disciplines, Timberlake said, "Sometimes I feel the only way to really express all those different sides, even just for myself, is through different people."

Timberlake said he's just not feeling it for himself. "To write for myself, I definitely have to recharge my battery. I can't just pump out 20 more songs and expect them all to be 'What Goes Around.'"
