Spider-Man song a treat for Flaming Lips

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., May 1 (UPI) -- Contributing a song to the "Spider-Man 3" soundtrack was a treat for Oklahoma rockers Flaming Lips.

Front man Wayne Coyne said that "of all the superhero type movies out there, we're mostly drawn to the Spider-Man ones. They hold up the best." He said that in the late 1960s, he and his brothers would play games imagining the Marvel comic hero paired up against boxing great Muhammad Ali.

"So it's like an existential dream through time-travel to be able to sing a song when I'm 45 for an actual movie about Spider-Man," Coyne said.

Flaming Lips almost called their song "Spider-Man vs. Muhammad Ali" but opted instead for "The Supreme Being Teaches Spider-Man How to Be in Love."
