SUNSET BEACH, Calif., April 27 (UPI) -- A woman "obsessed" with Sandra Bullock tried to run over the actress' husband at the couple's Sunset Beach, Calif., home during the weekend, law officials said.

The Orange County, Calif., Sheriff's Department arrested Marcia Valentine of Huntington Beach, Calif., on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, The Los Angeles Times reported Friday. She was released after posting $25,000 bail.

Her first court appearance is May 22 but formal charges are pending, a spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney's office said.

The incident began when Bullock's husband, West Coast Choppers executive Jesse James, saw Valentine lying on the driveway of the couple's home Sunday. When asked to leave, she swore at him, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino told the Times.

When Valentine saw James pull out a cell phone, she allegedly got into her car and tried to hit him, the spokesman said.

"He was lucky to get out of the way," Amormino said.

Bullock and James' 10-year-old child witnessed Valentine driving back and forth "three or four times" trying to hit James, narrowly missing him, Amormino said in the Times' report.

Valentine has had contact with Bullock and "definitely is obsessed with her," Amormino said.
