No jail for Willie Nelson in pot bust

ST. MARTINSVILLE, La., April 25 (UPI) -- Country music icon Willie Nelson won't serve time for a September 2006 traffic stop in Louisiana, during which state troopers found drugs on his tour bus.

Appearing Tuesday before a judge in St. Martinsville, La., Nelson pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession and paid a fine of about $1,000, reported KATC-TV in Lafayette, La. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, which was suspended, and six months of unsupervised probation.

During the traffic stop, state troopers said they found marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms during their search of the bus.
