HOLLYWOOD, April 25 (UPI) -- The anthem "American Idol" contestants will sing during Wednesday's "Idol Gives Back" benefit in Hollywood was written by U2's Bono and musician Dave Stewart.

The rockers' tune, "American Prayer," is about the AIDS epidemic in Africa, the Irish Examiner reported Wednesday.

Bono will also meet with the six "American Idol" finalists as part of the charity special, which began Tuesday with donations from corporate sponsors for every vote cast. Wednesday's show also allowed for contributions to various philanthropic organizations, including Bono's One: The Campaign To Make Poverty History.
