'Judge Judy' offers opinion on Baldwin

NEW YORK, April 23 (UPI) -- TV's "Judge Judy" Sheindlin said in New York she doesn't condone Alec Baldwin's angry message to his daughter but places some blame on the justice system.

Baldwin's angry voice mail message to his daughter, Ireland, 11, was leaked online last week, even though it was a part of a sealed court record. Baldwin and the girl's mother, actress Kim Basinger, have been divorced since 2001 and share custody.

Speaking with the syndicated talk show "Inside Edition," the former family law judge said the voice mail is the "culmination of lots of frustration. I am not excusing the rant on that tape, but there's a lot of blame to go around and I think it all shouldn't be heaped on this guy," she said.

Sheindlin said the court system shares some of the blame for "not getting the job done" when the couple divorced. She also criticized Basinger and Baldwin, saying their antics mean "the one unfortunately that's suffering is that little girl."

Leaking the telephone answering machine tape, she said, "was not in the child's best interests."
