BBC's 'Restoration' won't see new season

LONDON, April 15 (UPI) -- BBC2's British reality show "Restoration" has been canceled after three seasons of raising money to save buildings set for destruction.

The prime-time show, which had great ratings, focused on architecture and conservation, while raising millions of dollars to save historic buildings that were going to be demolished or about to collapse, The Independent on Sunday reported.

But now presenter Griff Rhys Jones has revealed the program will no longer air, the London newspaper said.

"The producers went to see Roly Keating, the controller of BBC2, and he said 'No.' He doesn't want to do any more series. These things happen. But I was hoping it would become a brand like 'Antiques Roadshow' or even 'Strictly Come Dancing,' something the BBC would want to keep," he said.

But things weren't always peachy with the show, which was produced by Endemol. It was often accused of reducing conservation to a beauty contest.
