LOS ANGELES, April 3 (UPI) -- Actress Mandy Moore is back in California nursing a broken ankle suffered leaping off a boat for a magazine photo shoot.

A spokesman for Moore said the accident occurred in late February in Mexico where she was doing the photo spread for June issue of Self magazine. "It was for one of the setups for the spread where she had to jump into the water," the representative told People magazine.

Moore, 22, has been seen wearing a walking cast on her right leg for a few weeks but she still allowed herself to be "slimed" at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards program in Los Angeles this past weekend.

Moore's new movie, "Because I Said So" is now in the theaters and she has an album, "Wild Hope," set to come out May 8. On the personal side, she quit dating DJ AM.

"I've been going through this really crazy time in my life," Moore was quoted as saying in February.
