The pop singer had introduced her final song at Weill Center in Sheboygan, Wis., Monday night when she apparently recognized Dominick Giordano, whom she had a restraining order against, the Sheboygan Press reported Thursday.
"Michelle Branch just said, 'Wait a second. There's a guy in the audience -- striped shirt and glasses -- can somebody check him out?'" Cali Haas, 20, of Sheboygan, told the newspaper. "It left everyone just so confused, like, is this a joke, part of the show?"
Haas said the suspected stalker ran for the back door with security guards on his heels. Branch apologized to the crowd and played the encore, she said.
Giordano, 32, of Bel Air, Md., was described by police who arrested him as cooperative. He was released after posting a $150 bond.
Giordano has allegedly been following Branch to concerts since 2003 and regularly sends her letters and videos, Sheboygan police said. He once allegedly lunged at Branch, a 23-year-old married mother of one, during an autograph signing, police said.
