Britain denies Snoop Dogg a visa

LONDON, March 24 (UPI) -- U.S. rapper Snoop Dogg apparently will not be performing with P. Diddy in Britain after being denied a visa to enter the country.

The duo was supposed to start touring in London Tuesday, before stopping in Manchester, Glasgow, Cardiff and Nottingham, the BBC reported.

But, Snoop, born Calvin Broadus, had to drop out of the tour after being denied his visa. His spokeswoman said the rapper was "mystified" by the decision.

"Snoop and his team are hoping the British government will reconsider this decision, especially as he has toured here before and sees the U.K. as being the highlight of the tour," she said. "He has asked how he can help rectify the situation and would happily talk to and give assurances to officials."

Broadus was also held overnight by police in Sweden for suspicion of drug use earlier this month and he is also facing weapons and drugs charges in the United States from separate arrests in 2006, the report said.

There was no official announcement on why Braodus's visa was denied.
