DETROIT, March 16 (UPI) -- Rapper Kid Rock won't be charged with assault, prosecutors said, because they couldn't confirm the claim from a woman who went to the rapper's Detroit home.

In a statement Friday, the Oakland County, Mich., prosecutor's office said it has declined to press charges against Kid Rock, real name Robert Ritchie, citing "conflicting witness accounts" and an inability to corroborate charges through "photographs or medical reports," TMZ.com reported.

Prosecutor David Gorcyca said there was "insufficient evidence to support a charge."

Kid Rock's lawyer told the online service his client "intends to fully pursue his civil remedies against this person as soon as we determine who she is."

The woman claimed she and the friend were invited to the rapper's home March 8 after running into him at a restaurant, WDIV-TV in Detroit said. She told police the rock star became verbally abusive, grabbing her neck and pushing her into a snow bank at his home in Independence Township.

Police said the accuser did not seek medical attention.
