Mills 'Dancing' for charity, not publicity

BURBANK, Calif., March 13 (UPI) -- Former British model Heather Mills said in a Burbank, Calif., interview she's on "Dancing With The Stars" to raise money for charity, not for publicity.

"My only reason for doing this show is to raise funds for (charity)," Mills, the estranged wife of Beatle Paul McCartney, told "Access Hollywood."

"I've (been) told I'm a publicity-seeker, yet I've never gone out and done anything."

Mills, who lost her leg in a 1993 traffic accident, said she would donate her appearance fee to Viva!, which campaigns on behalf of animals killed for food.

Mills said she hopes that her appearance as the first physically disabled contestant on the ABC TV show demonstrates "that with an artificial leg, you can dance."

Mills said she has a spare leg "in case I overdo it on the foot and it breaks or something."

Her prosthetic could start to slide and fall off it if it gets hot, "so I've pulled a sleeve over the top," she said. "As much as everyone would love it to go flying, I'm sure it's not going to come off."

She said she doesn't follow news accounts of her bitter divorce from McCartney.
