Prince Charles jumps on dart board

LONDON, March 10 (UPI) -- Prince Charles has jumped aboard the London Daily Telegraph's campaign to revive the game of darts in British pubs, the newspaper said Saturday.

In addition to being a fan of the game, the Prince of Wales said the "Save Our Darts" campaign compliments his "Pub is the Hub" campaign that for five years has been supporting rural pubs, the Telegraph said.

"I'm doing my best to keep the darts tradition going," said the prince, waving a set of darts while speaking at a reception.

The campaign was launched after a survey revealed a lack of pubs offering darts games to patrons.

In supporting the dart revival, Charles said Britain has seen many as 10 pubs a week a disappear in rural and urban areas.

Some of the pubs were rebuilt as "gastropubs, whatever that is, and which I have only just discovered seem to be threatening the future of pub darts," he said.
