LADY LAKE, Fla., March 6 (UPI) -- Actor John Travolta donated $15,000 to central Florida tornado victims during the premiere of his new film, "Wild Hogs."

Before a screening of the biker buddy movie, Travolta presented a personal check for $15,000 to Lady Lake, Fla., Mayor Max Pullen, the Miami Herald said Tuesday. The movie screening raised an additional $15,000 in donations.

Tornadoes killed 21 people, many from Lady Lake, and destroyed hundreds of homes Feb. 2 in central Florida.

"I think the best movie openings and promotions are when you can do it for charity and help people," said Travolta, an Ocala, Fla., resident for about four years. "I live here. These are my people."
