Anna Nicole Smith set for burial

NASSAU, Bahamas, March 1 (UPI) -- The memorial service and burial of Anna Nicole Smith in the Bahamas will be private but "over the top," a friend of the late model said.

Smith's Bahamian burial was given the go-ahead Wednesday, when a Florida appellate court rejected an appeal by Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, who sought to gain custody of Smith's body for burial in Texas, her home state. After the ruling, Arthur said she would not file any more appeals.

The body is expected to be flown early Friday from Florida to the Bahamas, where it will be taken to the Mount Horeb Baptist Church for a memorial service, E! News said. About 300 guests are expected to attend the service.

About 30 family members and friends will go to the cemetery for Smith's interment.

Smith will be buried in a gown designed by Pol' Atteu, who designed more than a dozen dresses for the late model.

The service is expected to be "something very beautiful, very private, very over the top and very pink," said Patrik Simpson, a friend of Smith, noting pink was her favorite color.

Smith's body has been in the Broward County, Fla., medical examiner's morgue since her death of unknown causes Feb. 8.
