BERLIN, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- The Chinese drama "Tuya's Marriage," about why a Mongolian woman had to seek a new husband, took the top prize at the Berlin International Film Festival.

In accepting the Golden Bear, Wang Quanan said "Tuya's Marriage" portrays life in the Mongolian steppe that is disappearing because of industrial changes in the region, Variety said Monday. The story is about a Mongolian woman who falls ill and must leave her disabled husband to find a more able spouse.

The Silver Bear went to director Joseph Cedar for the Israeli war drama "Beaufort," which focuses on soldiers during the 2000 Israeli military's pullout of Lebanon.

German actress Nina Hoss won for her role as a young businesswoman battling ambitions and inner demons in "Yella."

Argentine actor Julio Chavez won the Silver Bear for Ariel Rotter's "The Other," in which he portrays a man who assumes another man's identity to start a new life.

The Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution went to the cast of "The Good Shepherd."

South Korean director Park Chan-wook, won the Alfred Bauer Prize for innovative film for "I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK."
