Audioslave singer quits

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Vocalist Chris Cornell has quit California-based alternative rock supergroup Audioslave, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts."

Cornell, the former lead singer for Soundgarden, sang the theme tune for "Casino Royale," and is set to release his second solo album "Carry On" on April 30. But he will not return to work with Audioslave, NME.com said Friday.

"Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave," Cornell said in a statement. "I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."

Other members of the band -- guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk -- reunited with singer Zack de la Rocha to resurrect their former band Rage Against The Machine.

Rage Against the Machine will perform its first concert in seven years at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.
