LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Lawyers for the Ron Goldman family subpoenaed records from Hollywood groups to determine if O.J. Simpson hid assets.
The families of Goldman and ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson won a $33.5 million judgment against Simpson after a civil court jury found him liable for their 1994 deaths, Vibe said. Simpson earlier was acquitted in a criminal trial.
Goldman's attorneys said they believe Simpson diverted residual payments from films as "Naked Gun 33 and 1/2" and "The Towering Inferno" to avoid payment. The subpoenas seek information from the Screen Actors Guild, the Producers Guild of America and the American Federation of Television Radio Artists.
Goldman lawyer David Cook said, "We're going to burrow to the center of the Earth to find Simpson's assets. There is a rational belief that these monies have either been diverted, assigned or payable to someone other than Simpson."
The full civil judgment hasn't been paid. Goldman's lawyers recently sought residuals, along with advance money he may have earned for "If I Did It," a book Simpson wrote about the murders.
A Los Angeles judge barred Simpson from spending royalties from any movie, television, book or magazine deals until a Feb. 20 hearing.
