Will Smith nervous about daughter dating
TEMPLE CITY, Calif., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Donfeld, an Oscar-nominated costume designer, died at the Temple City, Calif., home of his brother after a brief illness. He was 72.
During his career, Donfeld worked with the biggest names in show business, including Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. in "Robin and the 7 Hoods," Natalie Wood and Tony Curtis in "The Great Race," and Anjelica Huston and Jack Nicholson in "Prizzi's Honor," the Los Angeles Times said Thursday.
Good costume design "captures the mood and attitude of the players, their society, their environment," Donfeld told the Times in a 1969 interview.
Donfeld, born Donald Lee Feld, also designed costumes for television, including episodes of "Wonder Woman" with Lynda Carter.
His first of four Academy Award nominations was for "Days of Wine and Roses," starring Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick. He also was nominated for "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" starring Jane Fonda; "Tom Sawyer" with Jodie Foster, and "Prizzi's Honor."
Donfeld, who died Saturday, is survived by his brother, an aunt and several cousins.
