Group donates single to breast cancer ads

JENKINSTOWN, Pa., Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Platinum recording group Five For Fighting donated use of its new single, "World," for the Breast Cancer 3-day television ad campaign in the United States.

Songwriter John Ondrasik, lead singer for Five For Fighting, said Tuesday he hoped "my music brings awareness to this cause as we continue to work toward a cure."

Ondrasik and his wife lost a family member to breast cancer.

"We're inspired by the generosity of John and Five For Fighting, which will greatly help us increase awareness and funds for breast health programs through the Breast Cancer 3-Day," said Sue Wagner, Breast Cancer 3-Day project manager with Jenkinstown, Pa.-based National Philanthropic Trust.

As someone who lost a relative to cancer, she said, "John understands ... the importance of finding a way to contribute to the breast cancer movement in a meaningful way. Through his music, he is doing just that."

The Breast Cancer 3-Day takes place in the late summer and fall in 12 cities around the United States. Participants walk 60 miles in three days to promote breast health and breast cancer awareness.
