Tori Spelling throws L.A. baby shower

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Actress Tori Spelling and her husband were joined by approximately 50 guests this weekend as the couple threw themselves a baby shower in Los Angeles.

People magazine said that with Spelling and her husband, Dean McDermott, expecting their son in April, they gathered those closest to them for Saturday's event to recognize the impending birth.

"We're so excited to share this special time with our friends," McDermott said. "We can't wait to meet the little man. We feel him kicking all the time and we're so eager to finally see him."

"I've loved being pregnant, but I'm ready to give birth," Spelling said. "I can't wait to be a mom and hold this little baby in my arms."

The baby shower also gave Spelling a chance to see some of her former TV co-stars, including "Beverly Hills 90210" star Jennie Garth and "So noTORIous" actress Loni Anderson.

People said one notable absence at the event was that of Spelling's mother, with whom she has been at odds since her father, TV producer Aaron Spelling, died last year.
