LONDON, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Days before Babyshambles' Pete Doherty and girlfriend Kate Moss checked into a London clinic for drug addiction, partiers said he was injecting cocaine.
The three girls said Doherty was injecting himself while on the phone assuring Moss that he was "fine," The Sun reported Wednesday. He and Moss were vacationing on Phuket after having received a Buddhist blessing for their romance on New Year's Day.
A fan, Jess Lea from Australia, said she spotted Doherty on the street and invited him to her room to a party. While there, Lea said, Doherty injected cocaine several times.
"It was a bit mind-blowing," she told The Sun. "He asked us if we minded. Initially we were like, 'OK, go for it.' But as time went on we began to get nervous."
He reportedly borrowed Lea's cell phone to contact Moss, who kept calling back, Lea said. Finally, concerned about the drugs, the three girls escorted Doherty to a restaurant near his hotel because he couldn't remember exactly where he was staying, Lea said.
Lea said she text-messaged Moss to tell her where they left Doherty, adding, "That's the last we saw of him."
